Remington Pettygrove

It was Fall of 2004 while attending DePaul University in Chicago, IL, Remington Pettygrove decided to dust off the guitar he received on his sixteenth birthday and start writing songs. Not knowing much about the songwriting process, he relied heavily on his emotions to give life to his lyrics. He spent his waking hours working and reworking his songwriting process until there was better understanding between him and the messages he was trying to portray. He soon took his craft to the subways of Chicago where he was able to test out his material on the everyday folk; to his surprise many received him warmly. It was also there in the subway he learned a great deal about poise, presence, and projection while performing for hour’s underground.
Having enough of the cold weather Remy moved to Florida and surrounded himself with music fanatics of all types while studying recording arts at Full Sail University. The change of scenery sparked his creative juices and helped create his self-titled four-song EP “Life’s a Twist of Fate and A Touch of Luck”. Last winter he took his show on the road for a tour along the east coast.
Presently, Remy is recording his first full length CD and is very excited about where his songwriting is going. It is his insightful and heartfelt lyrics combined with his unique vocal phrasing and catchy melodies that appeals to those who are looking for something different; those searching for individuality in artist and music. You can find him in the subways, on the streets, or performing at local venues with Chicago.com/music. He is looking forward to seeing where his musical journey will take him next.
